SZABÓ TAMÁS

Psychotherapist & Counselor

Background

I’m a qualified psychologist and psychotherapist registered at COPSI, the regulatory board for the profession of psychologists in Romania. I am also a counselor for self development with a qualification accredited by the Romanian Ministry of Education.

I have studied psychology at  Transilvania University of Brasov, Romania and underwent training in person-centered psychotherapy at the Romanian Association of Person-Centered Therapy in Bucharest.

Currently I have a private practice, working with adults, adolescents, couples and groups.

I participate regularly at conferences, workshops and other events related to the field of psychotherapy, counseling and psychology.

Volunteering

Helpline

Offered mental health support for people going through various difficulties such as anxiety, depression, panic attacks, sleep disorders and relationship issues among others.

Group facilitation

I facilitate group discussions for people with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder where they can express themselves as they feel, without being judged, evaluated or stigmatized.

Occupational therapy

During my studies I provided support in occupational therapy for people with autism spectrum disorder and other disabilities.

Besides psychology?

I enjoy taking walks in nature or urban areas and taking photographs. Photography, for me, is more about the process itself rather than creating aesthetic or spectacular images. I tend to focus more on scenes that catch my attention or evoke memories and various emotions.

Apart from outdoor activities, I also find pleasure in reading and watching movies. On this website, within the articles section, I’ll include brief analyses of films or books centered around human behavior and interpersonal relationships. Moreover, I’ll explore movies that don’t necessarily delve into psychological subjects but push boundaries and evoke intense emotions. I’d like to mention directors such as Tarr Bela, David Lynch, Terrence Malick, and authors like Krasznahorkai Laszlo and Haruki Murakami.
